This is a Johnson's 6" caliper rule, no. 44, Pat. date of Jan. 8,1907. It is made of solid German silver and has a protractor joint. This rule was manufactured by the E.P. Johnson Rule Mfg. Co. in Chicago, U.S.A. Most of these rules either show smooth wear or damage due to the softness of the metal, but this one is in remarkable shape with little to no wear and no stretch damage. The only flaw would be fine scratches caused by grit when it was opened and closed, but they are very slight. This is just a fine example of this early rule!
