A potpourri of ideas and resources and ideas for implementing this summer's reading program, "G'Day for Reading!"
CHILIS president Marie Lejeune with Librarian of the Year Cora Jo Ciampi of Weare Public Library. In her nomination letter, her director said, "She doesn't just preach values, but lives them." Cora Jo received a gift certificate, flowers, and a plaque, which will be housed in her library for the next year. Congratulations, Cora Jo!

Joseph Carringer and Steve Blunt started us off with a wonderful musical and storytelling collaboration. Steve is a great friend of CHILIS and wrote "G'Day for Reading", a special Summer Reading Program theme song, which can be downloaded and freely used from his website steveblunt.com Steve offers two fun and exciting programs this summer: "Wild Reads", and "Sing Along in the Billabong".
Meg Gilman (also in concert with Joseph) from Portsmouth enchanted the audience with her animated stories that feature the flora and fauna of Australia. Cooweee!
Ancient Voices Harmonic Therapy: Joseph Carringer teaches Sue Ruggierio and Jackie Biger of Amherst Library how to play the didgeridoo. Creating the instrument is offered as a workshop in his program, "Make Your Own and Learn to Play the Didgeridoo". More on Joseph's program can be found at www.didgetherapy.com Entrancing! His program definitely stands on its own!

The very energetic Jay Mankita rocked us out with "The Day the Library Went Wild". Jay travels in the "Veggie Voyager", his oil-powered van, and offers environmental awareness programming as an aspect of his musical program.

Paul Warnick- educator, musician, and entertainer, had us up and shaking as he took us "Over the Sea" to the "Land Down Under!"
Angela Klinger's program focuses on Australian "Dreamtime" Stories (she also plays the didgeridoo!). In her 'make and take' craft workshops, children may create a 'tree bark' handprint, or paint on wood clapping sticks.
The irrepressible Mr. Phil & Co. delighted the audience (as usual) with the "BookPusher 5000". Mr. Phil also performs magic, and offers a wonderful balloon workshop as part of his repetoire. www.mrphilandco.com

Have a g'day -- good onya! A seacoast favorite, Joanne Piazzi, storyteller, is a former librarian whose performance is a 'blend of original stories and traditional tales with a twist or two, and just right for family audiences.'
Intrepid volunteer Danielle Fortin (Chesley Library) helps demonstrate the amazing powers of the "BookPusher 5000".
Adele Boeske, the Great Stone Face representative on the CHILIS Board, catches up with former CHILIS Board member and SRP coordinator Deb Hoadley, who is now working just over the border in Massachusetts. We miss you, Deb-- Congratulations on winning one of the $50 prizes! As Ann said- that's a tank of gas!
