CHILIS Spring Conference 2007

featuring the

Kids, Books and the Arts Showcase

Sawyer's Banquet Facility in Plaistow: Warm and inviting, especially to those of us who traveled from far and wide to get there after the snowstorm. And were we glad to have hot coffee and pastries waiting for us!
Two Fiddles: Dudley and Jacqueline Laufman revived our spirits and got us off to a happy start with their lively dance tunes- perfect for traditional country dance at your library this summer.
The inimitable Alex the Jester, about to put the three recorders ON TOP OF the ping pong balls already in his mouth!
"This Land is Your Land" with Roger Tincknell, whose program celebrates the history of folk music in the USA. We had fun yodeling along with Rick!
Diane Edgecomb's "Dig the West" features tales about dinosaur discovery in the West-- complete with pictures.
Rick Goldin had us standing up, sitting down, and turning around with his funny and spontaneous songs, which include Hamster from New Hampshire (he was a rover, he went all over...).
Sesquipedalia (foot and a half high creatures) Puppet Productions.
Many Thanks to the Summer Reading Program Team, which includes Barb Ballou (Whipple Free), Katy Watson (Kimball), Deb Hoadley (Plaistow, our host); and Carolyn Birr (table decorations)- all sporting their red, white and blue, which qualified them for ticket discounts!
Magician Peter Boie wowed us with his marvelous tricks. He even showed us how some of them are done (top secret!). Here he reminds us (won't the kids like that) that you don't need expensive props to perform magic!
Judy Pancoast performed selections from "Reading Our Way Across the USA", which features the rollicking "Are We There Yet?".
Our friend and SRP theme song composer, Steve Blunt, had us up and rockin' to "Bookin' Down the Highway, Reading All the Way"! The accent is real-- it's his stories that are magical. Storyteller Simon Brooks regaled us with his tale of the adventures of Rooster, Toad and Miss Grasshopper, bringing them to life with his wonderful voices!
Tote (front), poster, and tote again (reverse), artwork by Julie Brillhart.
