Book Discussion Join
us for a lively discussion of three popular books that illuminate Islamic
cultural and political ideals. This
series takes us beyond the hyperbole of headlines to meet, through fiction
and non-fiction, the people of the Middle East – the everyday lives of women and
men, the turmoil of nations in transition and sects at war. We are
challenged to discover human connections, even in those who deal in purposeful terror, as we simultaneously see the sharp differences in
traditions and culture. September 16th, 7 pm Jennifer Lee, Independent Scholar from UNH will lead a discussion about Nine Parts of Desire by Geraldine Brooks October 7th, 7 pm Sandra
LeBeau from Colby Sawyer College will join us to lead a discussion about Palace Walk by
Naguib Mahfouz November 4th, 7 pm Jennifer Lee from UNH returns to
discuss Sitt
Marie Rose by Etel Adnan All
events will be held at the Community Hall behind the Fuller Public Library
and begin at 7 pm. Library sponsored events
are free and open to the public.
Refreshments will be served. Funded
by the New Hampshire Humanities Council For more
information please call the Fuller Public Library @ 464-3595 All books are available at the Fuller Library. |
